Parents’ Page

Well, if you visit this site often you will notice that it has taken me longer than usual to update this page!  I hope we all made it through the silly season intact and navigated our way through the amazingly short, for some, even frantic term one!  Someone mentioned to me the other day that it wont happen again for another 4 years – hears to that!!

Being a parent brings so many hats, roles, responsibilities & challanges that it often can take ones breath away!  (is that just me talking?!)  If you are not aware, I am a mum to a thirteen yr old girl and very soon an eleven yr old boy.  I am pretty confident in saying I am not entirely sure that I am well, lets say, qualified for all this can entail.  Between keeping up to date with 2 school notices, youth group, sporting games, training, homework, their social calanders as well as ensuring they both have quality time with me, their dad, a fun, healthy relationship and perspective of God, they have a good self-esteem and body image, and they are kept in good health (did I cover everything?).  Life can be up and down, but at the end of the day both my kids come awake at bed time and love to chat, now this may be so they they dont have to go to sleep, but I like to think it’s because they like to chat about the day and for some unkown reason they only like to do this at night!  The rest of the time the standard answer I get to any question is FINE!  With today’s hectic world I have to quietly admit I really enjoy this time, more often than not I squish the urge to tell them to just go to sleep, and the discussions that take place are just so meaningful I often leave with a tear in my eye, sometimes from laughing but more often, just because they are such treasured moments that will not always be there.

So as the day spins us by, let’s take some part of it to take a snapshot of where our kidz are at and enjoy them, even better tell them!.  If we as mum, dad or carers can make those moments we will bring up self-aware, positive, happy, resilient adults that may even make someone else’s day, or take on the world around them!

Till next time, accept my heartfelt congrantulations and support in all that being a parent today brings & remember that you are not in this thing alone!  God is a parent/friend to many more of us than you and me, although we may not live up to how He does it, He loves and values us just the same.  If we do that much with our kidz, He will cover the rest!.

Bye for now & keep smiling, love narelle
